Prior to the post, I had only posted pictures of artwork I had done in the recent past. Now I am going to start posting sketches as I do them throughout my weeks. Currently, I have been working on different sketches of lions. This is my first one done in ink.

More Pieces
Oil
Graphite
I drew this picture in the spring of 2010 while I was competing in track as a polevaulter. I wish this were a picture of me; however, I never attained the skill of getting completely upside down like this girl in the picture. I like to draw what is on my mind and during track season I thought little of anything besides polevaulting.

Oil Pastel
Last summer my older sister came home and was infatuated with oil pastels. And so her and I sat down to have fun and experiment with oil pastels on HEB brown paper bags. She was drawing Dustin while I tried to draw my brother. My drawing ended up looking like an ugly unproportional hobbit. So i became frustrated and decided to draw one of my favorite things to draw, which is eyes. I drew this from a photograph one of my friends took of my eye which she edited to all black and white except for the iris. I had a lot of fun drawing this one and it is so far my favorite pastel drawing I have done. However, this drawing is much smaller with a size of 5" by 5"
Oil on Canvas
Painting is not my favorite medium. While it can be more relaxing and fun; I feel like I lose a lot of control that I would normally have when using graphite or prisma color. This piece was a challenge for me because I was out extremely out of my comfort zone. This is also one of my larger pieces with a size of 20" by 16"
Oh, I had a lot of fun with this one. This was on a much smaller canvas: 8" by 8" This was my second palette knife painting. I really had so much fun with the colors and with using the knife. This was one of my more relaxed and enjoyable projects.
San Antonio Rodeo Art
Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year of highschool i participated in San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo- Student Art Contest. Hundreds of students submit a piece of art in hopes of getting in the top 25. Every fall many students and I would spend hundreds of hours on our pieces, hoping the long hours and hard work would earn us a spot in the top 25. God blessed me with such an incredible art teacher who helped me in so many ways as I struggled to meet my deadlines. Also, I have to give credit to God. He is my everything and through the weeks of being sleep deprived, stressed, and emotional, He is the one that held me together. I can do all things through him who gives me strength. (Phil 4:13)
None of the pictures are for sale since they have been auctioned off and I no longer have the right to sell them.
Sophomore Year
This picture took me approximately 120 hours to complete it. The medium is prisma color. The picture is 18" by 12". This was my first drawing using prisma color. This picture was a lot of fun to do but i learned a lot about patience and endurance.
Junior Year
This picture is of the world famous rodeo clown Leon Coffee. This project started out as my most stressful project ever. I was extremely late in finding a photo to draw and time was not slowing down. My teacher had said she would like someone in the class to draw Leon Coffee. The next day I was talking with my mom and mentioned what my teacher had said. Well, my mom took that idea and ran with it. Somehow she managed to get a hold of Leon and get permission for me to meet him and take pictures before a rodeo in Uvalde. At first I was frustrated because I did not want to wait to get the picture because I was already so behind. But since i could not find another picture I waited for the rodeo in Uvalde where i took this picture. I am so glad my mom did that for me. This was such an awesome picture to draw and I would not have had it without my mom's help.
This picture is also done in prisma color and took me 170 hours to complete. I remember the first thing on starting coloring was a green circle on his arm. The circle took me well over three hours because I was so nervous that I was going to mess up. Thankfully, I sped up a little bit after that but still was probably the slowest artist in my school. The size of this drawing is 11.5" by 15". Out of the three of the rodeo pieces, this one was the most fun for me because I love the challenge of drawing people more than any other object.
Senior Year
This drawing is also done in prisma color and took me 210 hours to complete. The drawing is 16" by 11.5" This by far is the longest i have ever spent on a single drawing. My dad took this picture of two cows on my grandma's farm. Finding a picture for this project is one of the most stressful parts of this process and I was very fortunate that my dad had many pictures of our cows.
Friends
Friends
The next couple of pictures are drawings of people who have influenced my life.
Sam
This picture is of Sam, a boy who is practically family to me and has been a great friend during my highschool years. I drew this in August of 2009. This drawing is done in graphite and is one of my smaller works at a size of 7" by 4.5"
Dustin
This picture was drawn in July of 2009. Dustin has been a family friend since my middle school years. I am afraid this picture does not resemble his current appearance since he can now grow a full beard. However the photograph i used to draw this was from a few years ago.
Tiffany
This is my beautiful older sister, Tiffany. She is so incredible and has been such a huge influence in my life. She is such a godly woman and I look up to her in many ways. She also is an artist and I have learned so much from her regarding art as well as life. I love her vey much. :) I drew this picture a few days after i finished Dustin's picture in July of 2009.
Lost in Music
This picture was drawn from a photograph of my friend Alex playing her guitar. She had asked me a long time ago to draw a picture for her and i finally finished this drawing for her yesterday. Through a chain of events involving this picture on facebook, and through the suggestion of my friend (thanks Austin!) i decided to start this blog. i will have more pictures up soon.
